Copper Loss

Copper loss in a transformer refers to the energy lost due to the resistance of the copper windings when electrical current flows through them. This loss manifests as heat and is a type of resistive (or $I^{2}R$) loss, where $I$ is the current through the winding and $R$ is the resistance of the winding.
