Subcooled Liquid

Subcooled liquids are compressed liquids in a single phase, such that $T$ and $P$ are independent intensive properties. The effect of pressure is so small that it can be neglected in most cases (i.e. liquids are incompressible)

For a given property, $y$:

$$y(T,P)\approx y(T)=y_f(T)$$

Therefore, compressed liquids are commonly treated using saturated liquid properties at the given temperature.

Enthalpy is an exception, where:

$$h(T,P)\approx h_f(T)+v_f(T)[P-P_{\text{sat}}(T)]$$
