In the electric power industry, special designs of transformers are used to measure high AC voltages and currents.
The transformers used for these purposes are called Potential Transformer (PT) and Current Transformer (CT), respectively. Note that transformers cannot be used to measure high DC voltages and currents, due to time-invariance of these quantities.
